Project Overview

Deregulation of brain cell metabolism is commonly observed in low-grade brain cancers. Although the precise molecular mechanisms remain ill define, it is now clear that brain cancer cell often harbor altered metabolic function that promotes cell proliferation and survival. Recent evidence shows that metabolic imbalance can be an early event in brain cell transformation and as such, it is often seen as a marker for a better prognostic. Sill, these metabolic advantages will eventually lead tumor progression to a more aggressive form of brain cancer. Our goal is to understand these metabolic dysfunctions in low-grade gliomas and identify new targetable enzymes to limit its progression in a more aggressive and deadly form of brain cancer.
